Check your email and online account if you are an American Express cardholder. If you missed out on Amex’s last round of bonus points for Amazon spending, you may be eligible this time around.
As part of its latest round of offers, Amex is once again offering certain cardholders an additional 5 Membership Rewards points per dollar on Amazon spending.

TPG Points and Miles Editor Andrew Kunesh, who carries the American Express® Business Gold Card, saw the offer in his Amex account Friday. If you have the same offer, you will need to make Amazon purchases with an enrolled card between now and August 19 to get the extra points.
The offer is capped at 1,500 Membership Rewards points, so you could be earning a maximum of $30 in additional points value through this offer since TPG values Amex Membership Rewards points at 2 cents per point.
Still, this could be a nice way to maximize your spending if you’re planning to make a handful of purchases on Amazon over the next couple of weeks. Ordinarily, the Amex Business Gold earns 4 points per dollar for your top two spending categories, capped at the first $150,000 in combined spending per calendar year.
If you normally earn 1 point per dollar on Amazon purchases with your Amex card, you’d be looking at a total of 6 points per dollar on up to $300 in spending — and potentially more than that if you carry a card that ordinarily earns you more than one point per dollar on Amazon purchases.

It’s important to note that this offer does not appear to be available for all Amex cardholders. I carry The Platinum Card® from American Express and did not see this offer available in my account, though some TPG staffers with that card, among others, were eligible earlier in July when Amex had a similar offer running.
As always with targeted offers, eligibility can really vary from card to card and member to member. For that reason, it’s worth checking your Amex account to see if this Amazon offer – or, another offer of note, is available to you.
It could be a way to capitalize on your earnings on a platform on which many of us make lots of everyday purchases.
